HTC Titan II is the latest Windows Phone device that is shipped with a mammoth 4.7 inches touchscreen display. Nokia E55 – With semi-QWERTY keyboard
Nokia E55 – With semi-QWERTY keyboard
The new mantra in gadgets these days is to go thin. The manufacturer claims that its device is thin and it attracts a lot of attention. I don’t blame them; I still can’t get over iPod Nano 2GBs slim profile. I refuse to believe that a music player can be so thin. Nokia is claiming that its latest offering, the E55, is the world’s thinnest phone ever. Now I cannot vouch for that since I’d have to compare it with a lot of other phones. What I can vouch for is that this phone is indeed really thin and were it not for the weight, you wouldn’t have felt the weight in your pocket at all. The handset is just half an inch thick. On the front, there is a big enough. It supports 1.6 million colors which is really good. The photos and videos look good on the screen and the text too is legible  [...]

HTC Droid Incredible 2 (Verizon Wireless)
HTC Droid Incredible 2 (Verizon Wireless)
HTC Droid Incredible 2 is the successor to the original HTC Droid Incredible and it did really well in the market. Things have changed since then; the competition has got more stiff and it will be interesting to see how this phone performs in sales. On the front, there is a gorgeous four inch display having a resolution of 480×800 pixels. The quality is much better than standard LCDs but you won’t be able to see it even in bright sunlight. This display holds its own again the Super AMOLED displays of Samsung and iPhone’s Retina screen. Multitouch screen of the HTC Droid Incredible 2 has built in accelerometer and also proximity sensor and it felt very responsive in my lab tests. I didn’t have any problems launching the applications, scrolling through the home screens  [...]

Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 – A lot to like
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is a tablet having perfect weight and size and it has been made better than the predecessors with the updates. It runs on Android Honeycomb 3.2 and there is no lag in the OS. The screen size is 8.9 inches big which is good enough for tablet. This tablet was announced by the manufacturer some time earlier and it is now available on the AT&T network with LTE support. It is a part of the Galaxy S II handset which is one of the best Android phones out there at the moment. There are some things that you need to consider and here I discuss all of them. Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 comes with 1.5 GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 dual core processor inside which is known to perform impressively. In my tests, the tablet was running pretty well and the battery life was about nine hours on a  [...]

Facebook to make their own Android phone
Facebook to make their own Android phone
We previously saw Facebook cell phones from Motorola, Huawei, HTC, and Vodafone. However, they are just Android phones having a discrete Facebook button and are integrated along with the social networking site. Facebook is now looking to change all of that. They are planning to come up with their own phone which will have social networking theme at the core. Camera games, applications, and contacts will be woven inside together so that everything works in tandem with the user’s Facebook account. Facebook has signed up with HTC for making such a phone. We have previously seen two Facebook centric phones from HTC – Salsa and ChaCha. The two companies will be making the Android phone together this time. The device has been codenamed by Facebook as Buffy. When asked, both HTC and Facebook  [...]

Nokia says Windows 8 tablet will be out by June
Nokia says Windows 8 tablet will be out by June
Nokia said that they will be adding Windows 8 tablet to their product line up by June 2012. Les Echos said that Paul Amsellem announced plans to launching the Windows 8 tablet by June 2012. This move does make some sense. iOS and Android covers both phones and tablets but this isn’t the case for Microsoft Windows Phone OS. Nokia can’t afford to ignore the tablet market and if it does make a tablet of their own, then it is very likely that Microsoft will be their partner. But still, Nokia will have to work hard to get some attention because Android and iOS tablets are doing really well. Nokia was asked to comment about it but they declined to do so. Stephen Elop, the Nokia Chief Executive too refused to commend on the Windows 8 tablet plans so not much is known about the whole ordeal. Elop  [...]

HP TouchSmart 520-1050y – Solid performance
HP TouchSmart 520-1050y – Solid performance
HP TouchSmart 520-1050y is the most recent system from HP and it is an all in one system. The cost of this machine is $1,049 but you can also get the TouchSmart 520 from the same company for $50 less. Other options include Toshiba all in one for a price tag of $899 and it comes with an HDMI port unlike the HP system. HP.com lets you get an HDMI port on the TouchSmart 520 for $1,049. Hence I find it hard to recommend this retail model because you get the same thing for a lot less from HP directly. HP TouchSmart 520-1050y is lower end version of TouchSmart 520xt which I got in my labs for review some time ago. I found that the model had been bumped up too closely to HP TouchSmart 610 but the manufacturer sent me 520 model of $1,000 and hence it would have looked right for midrange all in one  [...]

Kyocera Brio – Display quality could have been better
Kyocera Brio is a budget phone and it is good to see some entry level handsets amidst the war of smartphones all over. This handset is offered for free by Sprint and it has a full QWERTY keyboard which means it is targeted at messaging freaks. The display of this phone is a bit small just like most handsets which have a full QWERTY keyboard. The screen is 2.2 inches big and has a resolution of 320×240 pixels. There is also support for 65k colors. The display quality isn’t the best as compared to other high end phones in the market but this isn’t unforgivable considering that this is a budget phone. Kyocera Brio full QWERTY keyboard has four rows and is quite compact. People having larger hands will call it small. Buttons here are ridged and hence your fingers will have something to  [...]
