Proximity sensor issues on the iPhone 4 are still not fixed

When Apple first announced the iPhone 4, people said that it would be the best smartphone ever. The device has lived up to the expectations but it does have a few problems. Proximity sensor was one of them. For people who are new to the world of cell phones, the proximity sensor is a feature which automatically locks the screen when you put the device too close to your ears. This is done in order to block the display from accidental touches. The phone gets unlocked again when you take it away from the ear The proximity sensor is found in almost all touch screen smartphones because it is really important.

Apple iPhone 4 has some problems with the proximity sensor. Users often complained that the sensor didn’t work correctly sometimes. It didn’t lock the screen and hence the display was prone to accidental touches. Sometimes, the phone calls got cut when the device was placed close to the ear.


Steve Jobs said that the company is currently working on the problem and it will be solved soon. They were supposed to issue a software update for it but we haven’t got anything yet.  Fiona Martin, who is the spokeswoman for Apple Australia acknowledged the problem and the fact that the company hasn’t fixed it yet. There are rumors going on the Internet that iOS 4.1 is going to come out soon and it won’t have this problem.

Meanwhile, there are some suggestions on the Internet to take care of the proximity sensor problem. One advice says that you to sync the device and back up the information. Then you have to perform a backup. Check if the issue is resolved. If not, do a restore and then set up the iPhone 4 as a new handset. You will have to save your information on some other device or else it might get lost permanently.
