Nokia Twist 7705 – Never before seen design
Cell Phones — On August 26, 2010 | Leave a ReplyNokia Twist 7705 has a unique design, I have never seen anything like this before in a cell phone and I am not sure if you will like it or not. The phone has a square shape with a swivel design. It is a bit wider than standard phones and hence the handset may not feel comfortable in your pocket. On the bright side, if you want to attract some stares while you are on the streets, this is a great phone for you. The gadget also has a thin profile and sits quite nicely in your palms.
The screen of the Nokia Twist 7705 is the same as that of a mid range phone but you won’t see as many lines at a time because of the design of the handset. This is not a deal breaker because the phone is made for the youth generation anyways. I won’t recommend this phone to businessmen. Below the display, there are the two standard soft keys, four way navigation button with OK button in the middle, and the clear key.
On the lower right side, there is the hole and this is the sexiest part of the Nokia Twist 7705. It actually holds the two halves of the phone together and the swivel mechanism is located here. Nokia did really well by putting the swivel on the side rather than in the middle like we’ve seen on other phones. Nokia calls this hole the ‘contact ring’, it lights up when you get a call or message and this makes the phone even more aesthetically appealing.

For opening the Nokia Twist 7705, you just have to swivel the phone and you will see a full QWERTY keyboard. I was initially concerned about the durability of the swivel design, the often wear out in the long run. I had Sony Ericsson phone which had a very poor swivel interface and it seems this one too will have the same fate. I would recommend you to check the swivel of the phone if you wish to use the handset for a really long time.
When I first heard that the Nokia Twist 7705 has a full QWERTY keyboard, I thought it would be pretty miserable because of the small form factor. But I was delighted to see that typing messages on this handset was pretty comfortable. Above the keyboard, there are shortcut buttons for messaging menu, music player, Web browser, speakerphone, voice dialing, camera key and the standard send/end buttons. I would have liked if the send/end keys were on the top half of the phone. You will have to open the phone every time you want to make phone calls. My only problem was the number keys were at the middle of the keyboard and this was a bit strange.
The camera of the Nokia Twist 7705 is located on the back and it comes with flash too. You will have to open the phone for taking pictures and the back of the top half is a big mirror which can be used for taking self portraits. There are plenty of features for the camera but the photo quality leaves a lot to be desired.
